8. IGGY AND THE STOOGES – RAW POWER

Whilst I loved tracks from previous albums (1969, I Wanna Be Your Dog, No Fun, TV Eye, Funhouse, Dirt) this is my favourite album. The terrible recording and production of this album adds to its frantic raw power. You can hear the energy coming from the speakers with blistering, distorted guitars and heavy riffs from James Williamson and Iggys impassioned vocals. Punk before “punk”. Our band name came indirectly from this album and early Penetration demos actually sound like this! Some people think of Iggy Pop as the wild man/fool, which obscures the fact that he has written some great songs over the years.
