Mansun were the small town band with big dreams and big ideas. They came out of Chester just before Britpop and were first written about by John Robb in Sounds before being swept up by Britpop – a wave of bands they bore very little resemblance to. Their mixture of Nirvana and Japan with a dash of Prince and a big soundscape sensurround sound was captivating and highly original. When they crashed and burned ten years later they left a legacy of great album and an unfinished ending that their driving force Paul; Draper comes to terms with in this in depth and heart on the sleeve interview.
