John Robb in conversation with Patti Smith
John Robb in conversation with Patti Smith

John Robb in conversation with Patti SmithIn March 2010 I was invited to interview the great Patti Smith on stage at an in conversation event in Sheffield.

It was a wonderful and enthralling one hour in which she was totally open and emotional, flirtatious, inspiring, empowering, vulnerable, confident, smart, hip and cool.

Ostensibly to promote her book about he life in the pre punk New York with Robert Mapplethorpe the interview was about everything you wanted it to be. We met minutes before we went on stage ion the curious backstage which was cramped heatre set. As we sat amongt the props I asked he what she wanted to tlak about and she said ‘everything’..so I asked he everything and she went with it with a  stunning honesty…
