Steve ‘Wrongpop’ Clarke is a musician, huge rock fan and promoter who was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in May 2014. His road to recovery was far from straightforward, with a number of setbacks and some very dark days indeed. Thankfully, he got the long-awaited all-clear in July last year, having been supported along the way not just by friends and family, but also the sounds of his favourite bands and the testicular cancer charity Checkemlads. Now, one year on from his good news, Steve is set to launch a benefit album for the charity by way of a thank-you. Appropriately, it features exclusive recordings from some of those same life-saving bands like Mogwai, Future of the Left, Part Chimp, Terminal Cheesecake, Teeth of the Sea, Cleft and  Karhide.

The 26-track epic is available for pre-order now on Bandcamp for a mere fiver, and 100% of the proceeds will be going to Checkemlads to help fund their vital awareness-raising and support work. The release date is 31 July, a year to the day since Steve got the all-clear. Full track listing and more details can all be found on the Bandcamp page. In the meantime, check out the promo clip below (and if you’re a lad…just check em.)
