American indie-rocker Chris Cacavas (formerly of the critically-adored Green on Red, alongside Chuck Prophet and Dan Stuart) is one of a number of artists who will be playing the first-ever Oxted Folk & Blues Festival, on Saturday 9th February, at The Crown Inn. Cacavas is originally from Tuscon, Arizona, but now resides in Germany, and is making the trip over to the UK to make a special solo appearance at the festival

He is joined on the bill by Tim Keegan (formerly of Departure Lounge, whose music was featured in soundtracks for major films ‘The Butterfly Effect’ and ‘Sidewalks of New York’) who travels up from Worthing, West Sussex to play a full-band set; and The Steve Summers Band – one of the most in-demand blues-rock bands in the South East today. They are joined by a range of amazing local acts, including Smith & The Soulful; Wyatt Riot; and Amber Titchener

The festival is being presented by The Oxted Sessions, a new initiative launched this year to hold a range of monthly cultural events at venues around Oxted. The first Session – a screening of award-winning film Apostasy, followed by a Q&A with writer-director Dan Kokotajlo – was held at Everyman Cinema, Oxted, on Monday 21st January, and was sold-out, attracting almost universally positive feedback

The Folk & Blues festival is also presented in association with Westerham Brewery, who will have a special pop-up bar at the festival, stocked with a range of their award-winning craft beers, and The Crown will be providing a BBQ.

Tickets are available from wegottickets.com/oxtedsessions priced at £10 for adults, and £1 for under-16s. Doors open at 3pm, and last entry is at 9pm. Oxted is served by direct trains from London Bridge (30 mins), Victoria (40 mins) and East Croydon (15-20 mins). The venue is a 10 minute walk from Oxted train station. The last train back to London leaves at 23.23.
