Louder Than War was at the famous gig and wrote about it in this book and can remember the whole day really clearly.
The ‘ baggy Woodstock by the Mersey’ in the middle of the chemical factories near Widnes was attended by 30 000 people and was the first of the indie mega gigs that have become a staple of the music calendar. It was at that moment that the Roses seemed to be taking over the world and the whole baggy/Reni hat look became mainstream. The gig was also the marker used by Oasis and many bands of the time.
Louder Than War was also at the famous press conference the night before.
There will be a blog on this famous 24 hours soon…
