FF kit

Auction of Brit-Indie Collectible Memorabilia: Coldplay, Manics, Franz Ferdinands drum-kit… and Craig David signed guitar …. donated by the artists for the Greg Gilbert Appeal.

Can I draw your attention Ladies and Gentlefans of British Indie to this online, live, timed Auction, held very graciously by Ewbank’s (without charging commission) in aid of the Greg Gilbert (Delays) appeal.

You will have read about Greg in the press and here and about the benefit gigs in Southampton here.

This auction is the latest approach to get nearer the fund-raising target.   The items have been donated by the bands new and old, the great and the good, (and, sorry, some terrible ones, but it shows they have a caring heart, even if they don’t have any real talent). The list, in full, reads;

Coldplay, the Maccabees, Kaiser Chiefs, Vaccines, David Avery, Mumford & Sons, British Sea Power, Franz Ferdinand, Frightened Rabbit, Laura Marling, Scouting For Girls, Tim Wheeler, Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, Everything Everything and local hero, Craig David.

The stand-out items are ;

Craig David – Yamaha F370 acoustic guitar signed by Craig David with message: “Best Wishes, Craig David. Follow your intuition”

Franz Ferdinand – a 1972 Fibes Coda 7 piece drum kit in clear acrylic, donated and used by Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thomson, a live favourite kit used by the band on at least three world tours between 2009 and 2013.

and, (the one you can buy for me if you like);

Mark Radcliffe Poster designed by Geoff Sawers and signed by the BBC broadcaster. Poster depicts a map of the UK made out of band names, song or album titles and lyrics represented on the map in the location of the bands origin.

Plus loads of signed, rare promo’s box sets, t-shirts and of course some Delays memorabilia….

And as if that’s not enough  …. you can bid for VIP tickets for Maccabees and Scouting For Girls gigs….. for any teenyboppers or people of reduced musical taste.  ( Apologies, but you don’t realise how painful it is for me to type the words Scoutin…. no, can’t do it again. )

The Auction closes or is held on 9th March 2017 at 10:00am but I believe you can bid online and bid live –  you’ll have to have a good look at the website pages if one of the items takes your fancy and you can’t resist it.

All profits go to Give4Greg. which I’d ask you to support, if you haven’t already and are able to.

  1. “Please be advised there’s a 27% Buyer’s premium” No thank you! Why do they hammer the buyer? Makes no sense. There’ll be a sellers commission too. All in all the auction house will nick 50%+ of the final price which is outrageous!

    • It says on each item ” Ewbank’s are waving any vendor commission on this sale to benefit Greg Gilbert’s fund” so, like you say Nigel only the Buyers VAT applies – same as any other goods you buy where VAT is applicable.

    • It’s very clearly stated before you buy, before you even log in, how much buyers premium (aka VAT) will be charged. It’s not like its in small print!

      Ewbank’s kindly put themselves forward to host this auction and all the postage for nothing are not making any money from this at all.
