Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, whose debut album went in at number one in the UK charts, knocking the mighty Steps from the top played their first gig in Dublin.
Their set included lots of new material and also, interestingly, according to our spies nine Oasis songs. No problem there, afterall they are his songs, Beady Eye played their album on their shows attempting to make a clean break but it seems that the man they call the chief has mixed the old and the new in his catalogue, whether this means that there ever will be an oasis reunion is a moot question (Liam fired by the Roses sort of hinted at one a couple of days ago but Noel is wise enough to bide his time and we say give it five years but they could play together again)
The new band’s live debut included the likes of obvious big hitters like ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and ‘Supersonic’ and also more obscure cuts like the 1994 Oasis b-side ‘(It’s Good) To Be Free’, following it with ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ track ‘Mucky Fingers’ ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Supersonic’, ‘Talk Tonight’ and ‘Half The World Away’. and then the three song encore was made up entirely of Oasis songs, starting with the anthemic ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, then our favourite all time Oasis tune ‘The Importance Of Being Idle’ and ending with ‘Little By Little’.
