Nicky Tesco top 10 favourite albums part 2

Part one of Nicky Tesco top 10 albums is HERE

Manu Chao – Clandestino

I loved Mano Negra, always thought there was a little Members influence, but this album, and the work he did with Amadou & Mariam on Dimanche a Bamako, never wears thin.

Fela Kuti – Sorrow Tears and Blood

I first heard Fela not long after I’d discovered the Velvet Underground – funnily enough both with the same friend in Camberley. The effect of his music and politics has stayed with, and resonated far deeper, with me.

Tom Waits – Heartattack & Vine

Just wonderful. Everything he’s done I love (fan boy alert); the chronicler of our times.

The Isley Brothers – 3+3

If you don’t own this album, buy it. It was the soundtrack to a life changing summer.

The Heartbreakers – LAMF

A glorious, messy and a wasted fuck you rock album. I once sang Chinese Rocks in a scummy bar in Buttfuck, Finland while filming a Finnish Californian cannibal biker movie.

If you’d asked me last week, or tomorrow, or immediately after I’ve sent this I could have included Marquee Moon, London Calling, The Image Has Cracked, Born For A Purpose, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Ziggy Stardust, Disraeli Gears,American Beauty, Feats Don’t Fail Me Now, Straight Outta Compton, Flag, Blonde On Blonde, Remain In Light, JB Live At The Apollo, Transformer or Rattus Norvegicus.
