Leeds DIY Venue

Leeds DIY Venue

Crowdfunder setup to fund new Leeds venue/record shop/label space.

A Leeds based writer and promoter has embarked upon a quest to fulfil a lifelong dream, and you can be part of it. All too often these ideas remain a pipe dream never to become a reality, but in the words of our Editor Sarah Lay make that Reckless Yes decision and see where it takes you.

Having seized the day, done the research, applied for funding, this crowdfunder represents the final hurdle in making this a reality. The idea is based on the idea of Monorail in Glasgow part café/bar part record shop, and its role as a hub for local creatives. With the intent of providing a supportive surrounding for local musicians, and out of town musicians with it’s in-store label. Whilst also giving shelf-space and venue priority to new and exciting bands.

This new venture will be situated just out of the city centre in the heart of the city’s thriving DIY community, but this is only the start of this project. Once off the ground there are plans to sell local art, have music film screenings and have dedicated sections for fanzines.

So this initial crowdfunder plus the other funding that’s been applied for, is to establish the initial concept and provide stock for the in-house record shop. They’re also open to name suggestions!

Check out the crowdfunder page here and please give generously to such a great cause!
