New Gary Numan Song – Plus Details Of New Album & Tour

Yesterday we received news that Gary Numan will be releasing a new album on October 14th via Mortal Records. Titled “Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)” – see the cover art above – it will also be followed by a 10 date tour around the UK. And if the above isn’t news enough for one post, Gary’s also dropped a sneak preview of the album in the form of a track called “I Am Dust”. Scroll down to play it & to get more details about album / tour.

Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind) will be Gary’s first album in seven years and will also feature guitarist Robin Finck (from Nine Inch Nails, Guns N Roses) as well as being produced by long-standing collaborator Ade Fenton. We’ve been assured that the album…

“…finds Gary on fine dark electronic form; sounding both cutting-edge and  classic Numan, it marks his best work since the late 70s, early 80s heyday.”

And that…

“Splinter’ sounds unique, while also utilising new sounds and ideas.”

The track we’ve been given to share with you, I Am Dust, will be the opening track on the long player & …

“…is a statement of intent, combining heavy grind with his archetypal anthemic pop skills. The unsettling whispered verses, crunchy guitars and Hans Zimmer-esque strings on ‘Here In The Black’ create a sense of menace and drama, whilst more orchestral work adorns the cinematic ‘The Calling’.

So with no further ado here’s I Am Dust by Gary Numan. Tour dates can be found after it.

Guy is a former full time member of the Louder Than War editorial team, who's since moved on to pastures new. Music's been a large part of his life since he first stumbled across Peel on his tranny as a fifteen year old. His whole approach to music was learnt from Peel in fact, which includes having as inclusive a taste in music as possible. Guy devotes most of his time looking for new music & although he's been known to say "the only good music is new music" he pretty much accepts this is bollocks. Favourite band The Minutemen.
