New band from London Wideboy Generation have been receiving quite a bit of attention of late, especially overseas. Nicolas Cope gives us an introduction to the band.

Actions speak louder than words and this 3 piece Rock ‘n’ Roll band from London definitely put their money where there mouth is. Already rocking over 150 live gigs in the past 9 months and also having headlined at the 100 club (home previously to gigs by Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, The Clash) and having received big airplay in the USA, Germany and Portugal, Wideboy Generation have already been labeled one of the tightest new bands in Britian.

They draw their influences from bands such as The Jam, The Who, Artic Monkeys and Green Day & they have picked up rollar coaster speed momentum that shows no signs of letting up. With over 150,000 hits on YouTube with tracks ‘Looters’ (see below) and ‘Sylivia’ WBG have found an art in making 3 minute rock and roll anthems – and make it look easy.

The track that stands out for me for me is ‘Looters’ which is about the recent london riots. The track is a blaze of guitars, drums and high tempo lyrics that leaves you breathless. It also showcases the confidence and attitude with their ability to bang out great songs and they have all the right ingredients.

Wideboy Generation are made up of Joe (vocals/guitar), Aid (bass/vocals) and Jamie (drums) and at only 20years old. July 16 sees the first album release for the band titled No Time to Be Shy is a 10 track album produced by music industry legend John Cornfield (Stone Roses, Oasis, Cast, Muse, The Verve). This could be the career changing album that opens the door for them and from what they have put out so far it´s only a matter of time as these lads, in plain and simple words, have got what it takes and i cannot wait.
