Blue Lips (Daddy Longlegs)
You know when you come across them certain bands that sound like they’re from another era or another country? Bite The Buffalo sound a little like that.
How it can be that two Zambian brothers sound so distinctively American? They produce music that sounds like it should be blared from the speakers of a Chevy while the driver sits back in a leather jacket gorging on a burger! They could be the long lost brothers of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club!
Blood brothers Stos and Miti Goreos are thundering through the new music scene openly channelling the filthy Led Zep fuzz of their idols while managing to sound like a five piece band.
Failing to make much of a mark with their debut EP Bromigos last year, things could look set to change for the now UK-residing two-piece. With the release of their debut album Blue Lips (which was written in a lighthouse, naturally) and a string of intimate festival dates including Grillstock Festival, the brothers Goreos are looking set for a cracking summer.
Self-produced new single Blue Lips sounds like a lost track from El Camino: all handclaps, raggedy vocals, slightly bluesy tones with lyrics about losing one’s mind – it’s a sterling component of their same-titled album so be sure to expect lots more gasoline guzzling numbers from the Buffalo devourers soon enough.
