New Artist of the Day: Bitches

London band BITCHES (great name eh? not gonna forget that are you?) first came onto my radar back in the summer of 2010 in an interview they did for Loud And Quiet mag. Back then they were describing themselves as “thug pop”. They probably still are. It would be apt. They do play a kind of thugish pop.

I hesitate to write this but they might make you think they’re of an english version of Sleigh Bells. I hesitate not just because saying band A sound like band B is lazy journalism (I like to think I could get away with that as strictly speaking I’m not a journalist) but more because I hadn’t spotted a similarity till I saw that description. But if you think of a much quirkier, murkier Sleigh Bells & a much more DIY, experimental Sleigh Bells I think you’ll agree there are similarities. BITCHES sound’s just as packed with power & hooks & shoutyness & fuzz & confrontation as Sleigh Bells & there’s even a ‘having played in a metal band’ connection in both bands history’s.

BITCHES are a two piece from London. They consist of Staz on drums & shouty / screamy vocals & Blake on bass & shouty / screamy vocals. Rumour has it they come into their own live, something I’m yet to have the good fortune to witness for myself. Their kind of music does usually works well live though, so it’s easy to imagine this would be the case. Every tour they do of America (I think it’s 3 so far) seems to win them more & more fans, it’s probably about time their home country realised their worth a bit more too. There’s a rumour of an album later in the year in which case I presume a UK wide tour will be in the offing, one that’ll hopefully help spread the word.

So, if bands that make good clatter are your kind of thing BITCHES will probably be right up your street. They recently released an EP called Buster that you can find on Gravy Records Bandcamp page, or if physical’s your ting head off to the excellent Gravy HQ. Even if you want to download the EP I’d suggest you pop over to Gravy HQ to check out some of the other bands on their roster, such as the mighty Divorce, (who you’ll have already seen mentioned in LTW here (https://louderthanwar.com/high-decibel-headfuck-divorce-live-review-of-noisenik-band/), Batwings Catwings & Fever Fever.

If you want to see BITCHES in action then head over to their Vimeo page here where you’ll find a handful of their video’s.

Last but not least, here’s a track from Buster for your streaming delight:

  2. What’s Happening i’m new to this, I stumbled upon this I have found It positively useful and it has helped me out loads. I hope to contribute & assist other users like its helped me. Great job.

  3. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
