Modern Alarms

This was flashed up on my facebook page.

Don’t know a lot about manchester band Modern Alarms but they sound great- there is an air of Joy Division about the band on the song and on the demo the vocals get all ragged and wild at the end which sounds really good.

The song is driven by the bass and is really catchy as well as being dark and strange…they are lad rock but only in the way that Joy Division were also lad rock when they started.
Some of their other songs sound more like classic Manc sound but its the bass driven melancholic end of what they do that sounds really interesting and this track, even though it’s a dem

  1. Excellent review of one of the best upcoming bands in Manchester, their recorded sound is second only to their live shows, as musicians Fray on the guitar drives the sound with superb catchy licks, Gledders is one of if not the best new drummer I have seen in recent years with memories of Keith Moon brought to mind, Colm is the latest edition on bass and straight away fits in with the fantastic sound add to that the incredible vocal ability and all round entertaining front man Dom you get a complete package..

The song writing goes from the mad driving beat of Voodoo Dancing Monkey Man to the calmer and beautiful lyrics of pride aside.

I have seen the lads on numerous occasions and everywhere they play live they pick up new fans, if you looking for a good time and a new band to follow inb2012 then this is the band, having spoken to te band recently rumors are rife of a recording in the new year..

Great lads with hearts of gold, Modern Alarms deserve every success..

  2. They really are a fantastic live band, one of the best I’ve ever seen. Well worth whatever the door price is and I’d get to see them now as 2012 may well be their year for big things.

  3. Best thing coming out if Manchester, seen them a few times, never disappointed.

  4. Great review for a great band!
Think I’ve seen them live 3 times and the latest set was the best I have seen from them. The sound is superb and the band work really well together.
Hope 2012 brings about big things for Mordern Alarms and I intent to get to all the gigs i can!! Glad to see the boys getting the recognition they fully deserve

  5. I think there is little doubt that this is one of the most terrific video games of all time. There is action and comedy which makes it so wonderful. It is a little long, but it’s still worth playing in one sitting. Anyone know the best place to buy games?

  6. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
