Morrissey_by Angie KnightIs this Morrissey’s Ziggy moment?

The singer has released a statement on his True To You fansite claiming that his next three UK shows will be his last in the UK.

It all seems down to the fact that iconic former Smith can’t get a record deal in the UK and has shrugged his shoulders of his home country feeling that he has been shunned by the biz and it has become too hard to play here…

In the statement Morrissey said: “There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows. We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience … throughout 28 years … but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine…”

  1. I’ve never been big on the smiths or Mozzer but if I was a fan I’d be a bit miffed with an attitude that basically says I don’t care about the fans unless I can sell them a new recording.

    Nice one morrisey

  2. If no new releases don’t generate any interest how come The Rolling Stones sell out stadiums. A back catalogue is a mighty tool to work with.
