Morrissey has announced a huge homecoming gig in Manchester this summer.
The MAnchester Arena show on July 28 will be his only British concert of 2012.
The last time he played here was at two sell-out gigs on his 50th birthday at the Manchester Apollo in May 2009.
Morrissey will head to Japan later this month for a string of shows before a wider tour of Asia, and then on to the US before heading home for the Manchester concert.
The manchester media reported There had been growing speculation about a possible Smiths reunion in what is the 30th anniversary year since the band first formed. Former bandmate Johnny Marr said last month that he would reform the band if the ”Ëcoalition government steps down’. Morrissey has been on a South American tour since the start of the year, which he has described as the ”Ëbest tour of my life’. He said: “Nothing I had previously experienced prepared me for the love shown to me by the people of Chile, Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. “After all these years, to still be a part of people’s hope is astounding to me. It’s one thing to be valued, but to be loved is an entirely different experience.”
