Mike Peters to Busk in North Wales Hospitals to Aid Cancer Funding.
Alarm frontman Mike Peters has announced a great fund-raising idea to help boost cancer care funds in his native North Wales. Mike, who has twice been diagnosed with cancer and is already a prolific fund-raiser in the region, aims to raise £351, 120, which works out at a pound for every foot between North Wales’s three main hospitals, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Wrexham Maelor. Mike, who is calling the appeal Wrth Dy Ochr (translates as ‘By Your Side’), will also be walking the full distance in 2017.
Mike will kick off the appeal on November 20th by busking in all 3 hospitals in turn starting in Gwynedd in the morning, 9 am -11am, then to Glan Clwyd between 1 and 3pm and ending in Wrexham that evening between 5 and 7pm.
Mike said “I know that the NHS’ cancer services in North Wales need more than £350,000 in charitable donations every year to fund extra patient comforts in the region’s three cancer units. I want to make sure that people with cancer in North Wales and their families have the very best support every step of the way, from diagnosis to post treatment care, and that’s why I’ve decided to lead an appeal called ‘By Your Side’. This is your appeal, inspired by you and created for you. I am really looking forward to working with you, the many people who are already supporting you in so many different ways, and all those that aren’t yet aware of what we can all achieve together to help make cancer care even better in North Wales. ”
