Memnon Sa: Healing Chamber – track review
Memnon Sa – Healing Chamber
Louder than War’s Ioan Humphreys gets all in a a tizz about the atmospheric noise debut recordings by Memnon Sa.
Memnon Sa is a drone/electronic/avant-garde artist that has newly signed to Aurora Borealis (Jesu, The Haxan Cloak, Grumbling Furr, Conan etc.). Memnon Sa will be releasing their new album ‘Lemurian Dawn’ on 29th September. ‘Healing Chamber’ is the lead track from the release.
From the outset, the track has a distorted, yet atmospheric feel to the gradual noise that builds and builds. Big monolithic synth sounds suddenly come in to make sense and tame the noise.
The overwhelming doom of the opening first 2 minutes is suddenly broken up by the upbeat sounds and beats that border on the euphoric! The deep electronica throb persists throughout and bubbles underneath until it eventually takes hold half way through the track.
The instrumentation comes to the fore and the track starts to make sense in its entirety. It’s an all engulfing and intimidating, yet fulfilling journey that Memnon Sa makes incredibly fulfilling. Memnon Sa is definitely an electronic artist to look out for. Good stuff.
