Louder Than War Bomb Rating 4.5

The lockdown is getting to everyone but some bands are making the most of it and releasing new stuff. Starved of getting out and watching bands, it’s a great opportunity to stay in touch and listen to something new. One such band is Mellor from Reading who released Lost in The World a week ago! Nigel reviews the release for Louder Than War.

What we say:

Opening with a simplest of riffs, Lost In This World explodes into a juggernaut of a track. Glancing and fractured guitars shimmer over a glam stomping beat, all swept along by the sweetest of melodies, dropping for the infectious chorus “I need I need, you tell me that I need to change…”.

It sucks you in immediately and doesn’t let go until the final note. It’s one of those tracks that is instantly accessible. So much so, that after a couple of listens you’d swear it had always been in your collection. The perfect mash-up of solid cool indie underpinned by a punk ethic.

What Mellor Say:

“We wanted to give something back to our fans, for their unwavering support throughout this crisis. So to do that, we are giving away a brand new & exclusive track”

“We recorded bass and drums for this track a little while ago and completely forgot about it. Kris recorded his guitar parts at home in lockdown on his phone, and Gary finished his lyrics and guitar in our studio”

‘Lost in this world’ is everything fans have come to expect of Mellor – Big riffs, odd note and chord placement, cryptic lyrics and catchy melodies all moulded perfectly into 3 ½ minutes of breath-taking indie cool.

Mellor are a 4 piece from Reading: Gary Kingham – vocals & Guitar,  Kristian Bell – lead Guitar, Josh Woodward – Bass, Sam Igoe – Drums.
