5. Lou Reed & John Cale: Songs For Drella.

A magnificent album – minimal and sophisticated – John Cale & Lou Reed together in perfect harmony, paying homage to their mentor, Andy Warhol.

This is the great thing about recorded music – years of experiences and memories of people and places can be condensed into musical expression for posterity – and done with such style and grace here.

I have learnt so much from listening to the music of these two men – I hope some of it has stuck!
