Louder Than War’s photographer Melanie Smith went along to capture Marina + The Diamonds new show in Manchester on the Neon Nature UK tour.

Marina & The Diamonds © Melanie SmithMarina and her Diamonds took to the stage and set it alight in this show stopping performance, at the sold out Ritz venue. This was her third show on the ten night tour, and your in for a treat if you have a ticket for one of these sold out shows. She has come a long way since the last time I photographed her at the same venue in 2010.

Marina has an awesome voice, is unashamedly pop, bold, brashy, and cartoonish, such good fun. Opening the set with Mowgli’s Road, then launching into one of my favourite tracks I Am Not a Robot,  followed by Oh No! and then it was all over for me, time to go home. Photographers generally are only allowed to stay for the work then do in the pit – 3 songs, no flash. Check out the full photo gallery below.

Editor: live reviews / books and head of photography. I can't imagine my life without music, photography or books, all connect and have played a big part in my life. I have experienced many musical genres, northern soul in 1975, early punk movement, drifting into the electronic era, a trip around the rock scene, a taste of indie and a smattering of pop. I possess an eclectic taste in music and a lust for life; new experiences are what drives this machine. I still have that punk DIY spirit and used this to create my own website Mudkiss Fanzine in 2008 - 2013. Official photographer for Louder Than Words - annual music literary festival and a house photographer for Academy Music Group.
