Manic Street Preachers Top 50 Best Songs – Voted For By The FansWe have always loved the Manic Street Preachers (Goldblade even wrote a song about Richey called ‘4 Real 4 ever’), for their intelligence, their politics, their sense of mischief, the ‘glam on the dole’ of their early days look, their unpredictability, their myth and their smarts – but above all for their songs.

  1. Oh lovely, MSP have been my favourite band since about 1992. Completely agree with ‘Faster’ being the top one, it’s just the perfect song to me. And it’s heartening to see a good few songs from ‘Gold Against The Soul’ in there too, a criminally-underrated LP.

There’s a real spread across the LP’s too, suggesting, rightly, that they’ve never had a ‘purple patch’ like most bands have had: they’ve been consistently excellent throughout their career.

But as a massive supporter obviously I have to have a contrary moment or two so here goes. ‘Wrote For Luck’ was an amazing cover and so would warrant a mention I would think. But that’s a very minor quibble. A great list.
