Manic Street Preachers live at Sziget festival
more the melancholic blue messiahs the Manic Street Preachers deliver sensitivity to the masses couched in high deciable rock n roll

The on going trait for political organisations to use band’s music out of context shifted a gear this week with the Manic Street Preachers planning to take legal action against the EDL for using their song ‘If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next’ to promote an upcoming demonstration in Birmingham.

For some reason the EDL or a supporter of the EDL, depending on who you believe used the song which was written in a potentially different context to their video.

A spokesperson for the Manics told NME that the band were “horrified” that their track was being used in the promo and that the label requested the video was taken down immediately.

It seems strange that anyone can use a piece of music to promote their ideology without asking the musicians and use it totally out of context. There have been several instances of the Clash being used by people with opposite ideas on life, you would have thought you would have to have asked for permission first…

  1. Oh get real, it wasn’t an official EDL promo vid and was done by someone off their own back. Hope thats wiped the smile of you smug lefty halfwits!

  2. Reminds me of when the BNP delivered election leaflets up and down the country showing a spitfire and English people. Turned out to be a Polish spitfire and Italians from stock photo libraries! Couldn’t make it up.
