Lydia Lunch to launch recipe book!!

We recently twice reviewed (live review) Big Sexy Noise, the band fronted by Lydia Lunch the legendary underground musician, actress, activist, performance artist, and writer. She earned her notoriety in New York in the mid-1970s for her seminal no-wave band Teenage Jesus and the Jerks – if you get chance seek out a copy of the 1979 ‘Baby Doll’ single, you wont find an original though it does crop up on various No Wave compilations.

We at LTW are huge fans, as such we were delighted to hear that she had further new material to be released ”“ that said we were a little surprised when it turned out to be a recipe book!

Mama Lunch has written ”ËœThe Need to Feed: Recipes for Developing a Healthy Obsession for Deeply Satisfying Foods’ which will be published by Universe (USA) on the 11th September 2012 ”“ the book will be published in the UK on the 25th September.

Lydia Lunch to launch recipe book!!

Lydia Lunch earned her name from cooking up banquet feasts out of whatever ingredients were on hand for fellow starving artists and musicians, including Sonic Youth, Suicide, Henry Rollins, the Dead Boys, and the Butthole Surfers. In this book, she draws on her experiences and the celebration of a healthy obsession for foods that not only satisfy our craven desires but are also nutritious, delicious, and exactly what a body hard at work and play needs.

As is to be expected with Ms Lunch’ name attached; the book serves as a provocative guide to setting the mood as well as the table for a rousing three-course meal””whether a quick pick-me-up after a long night, a party for a gang of pranksters, or a much-needed weekend detox to replenish the body after being depleted by glorious overindulgence. Written with sass and dripping with sexy personal asides from Mama Lunch, the book is set to be an irresistible addition to every hedonist’s library.

Phil Newall is from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.
