LTW boss John Robb to host Liverpools first music awards

Liverpool now has its own music awards.

The inaugural GIT Award – the “Scouse Mercury Prize”  has been set up by music blog Getintothis in recognition of Liverpool’s best new music.

The event will take place on Friday April 27th at Leaf on Bold St in Liverpool City Centre

There’s a lot of great young bands in the city and the final twelve have been chosen from over 381 entries and the overall winner will be announced by LTW boss John Robb at a ceremony on 27th  April

GIT Award founder and chair of judges, Peter Guy, told LTW ‘The first GIT Award shortlist highlights the wealth of new musical talent within Merseyside. The artists are ambitious and inventive, emotional and passionate, funny and profound. They evoke a sense of time and place, providing a wonderful snapshot of Merseyside’s varied sonic landscape proving why Liverpool is still the centre of the music universe”.

  1. Awards ceremonies always succeed in dividing opinion – this will be no different. But for whats its worth there are a few notable missing names from the shortlist; Where are El Toro!, Zombina & The Skeletones, The Dead Class, Town Bike, Vermin Suicides? Not even sure how often some of the nominees play in Liverpool… respect to Bill RJ and Mugstar though.
