Louder Than War Radio

Louder Than War Radio

Louder Than War is thrilled to announce the launch of Louder Than War Radio. The new station, which is broadcasting 24/7 is a collaboration between Manchester-based broadcasting company Radio.co and Louder Than War and will feature a wide range of shows covering a variety of genres. As Louder Than War supremo John Robb said, “We don’t want it to be a station full of indie!”.

After hosting The Louder Than War Show on Radio Alty, Louder Than War’s Nigel Carr decided to launch the station after being ousted when he fell out with the arcane Management Team at the community station. Nigel said:

“Radio Alty director and chairman Stephen Carlton-Woods, who is Deputy Chairman of Greater Manchester Area Conservatives, reported live from the Conservative Party conference in Manchester in October. I asked the team if Radio Alty would be covering all of the other political parties, adding that, ‘as an independent radio station we should remain apolitical’. They didn’t like this and fired me on the spot without the opportunity of an appeal, after 78 live shows, presented for free. I thought It was time for us to start our own radio station! ”

Nigel’s show goes out every Wednesday in his familiar 9 pm slot. It features a round-up of all the latest coverage from Louder Than War, along with his own eclectic selection under the strapline, ‘reaching back into the past to make sense of the present. The show is packed with new punk, post-punk, psych and alternative releases; many from unsigned bands.

The first edition went out last Wednesday and features new tracks from Grandma’s House, Police Car Collective, Ist Ist, The Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, False Advertising, Wooze, Lime Garden, Joe Unknown and Dr Orange amongst others. (You can listen through the link on the panel on this page).

Legendary Manchester-based Producer Mike Bennet who worked on albums from The Fall, Fuzzbox and The Fat White Family joins the station from next Thursday 4th November for a regular 8 pm slot. The Mike Bennett Freak Party could not be more diverse. Mike said:

“It’s great to be radio-active with a gargantuan glut of glam, punk psych a generous portion of industrial action and much more. I am perfectly propelled into outer space, causing me to be over the moon with being part of Louder Than War Radio!”

The radio schedules are on this page: Louder Than War Radio Schedule

The station is currently seeking new presenters who will fit into Louder Than War’s punk manifesto but just as John implied, it will not be one dimensional. A new drum and bass show is being developed for Friday evenings, and a number of the magazine’s writers are preparing ideas for their own shows.

Nigel added: “It’s been a rollercoaster few weeks after the big fall out, but as ever, Louder Than War, being an ultra-progressive organisation, doesn’t look backwards. They did what they did and should be ashamed, but we are accelerating forward at light speed away from the sorry situation. Anyone who would like to join us for the ride, get your space suits on and pitch!”.

The all new Louder Than War Radio is live and online now through this link: Listen Live!

The Apple and Android Apps will be ready to download from next week and the stations will also be available through Alexa and all of the popular streaming platforms.

The old Louder Than War shows are still available to listen live – many of the links are on this page and new shows will be added to Mixcloud to listen to again after being broadcast! The link is here: Louder Than War Mixcloud.
