The Sugarmen facebook page

Liverpool has perhaps the best upcoming music scene in the UK at the moment – lots of great young bands of many different styles. The Sugarmen are just one of these and a mighty fine band they are too and have just been given an old fashioned record deal by Sire records.

We have been keeping tabs on the band since their youthful first attempts and they have always been really good so this deal is great news.

Speaking about the band, label boss and music biz legend who signed Madonna, the Ramones and the Undertones, Seymour Stein says: “I was blown away when I first saw Sugarmen live, and then again when they opened for The Who and Blur, both at Hyde Park. In May, I saw the band at Liverpool Sound City: They keep getting better and better; the songs, their musicianship and their live performance”.

He went on: “I look forward to working with them and Warner Bros, and having success with The Lottery Winners and Sugarmen as part of Sire’s 50th anniversary in 2017”.
