Now hosting his own podcast, the 73-year-old has been using the time when he has been forced to shield for the past year creating the series after being warned by doctors that a bout of coronavirus would probably kill him. In the past year he has barely left his house on the Essex coast.
‘Wilko Johnson Talks To’ does exactly what it says on the tin, with Wilko quizzing the likes of Chris Difford, Hazel O’ Connor, and John Otway over Zoom, with more top–drawer guests in the pipeline.
Wilko’s idiosyncratic intellect and down-to-earth persona make him a fascinating conversationalist and interviewer.
Available on iTunes and Spotify, the show is produced by Jim Drury, author of acclaimed books on Squeeze, Ian Dury & The Blockheads, and The Stranglers.
“I’m Wilko Johnson and I’m still stuck in this room” is fast becoming a new podcast catchphrase. Join Wilko in his living room soon.
