Southampton’s Scars of Protest drop cathartic and explosive new single Weapons + Morals
Begining their career as an exercise in catharsis in direct reaction to a period of depression and anxieties, Southampton’s Scars of Protest have since evolved in to a veritable behmouth, built on ’90s nostalgia, raucous walls of noise and and uncompromsing aggression.
Channelling the likes of Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine and Enter Shikari, their latest single Weapons + Morals is four-minutes of contemporary nu-metal inspired by the current UK and worldwide political climate.
“We have a platform and should be using it to address issues or injustices we see.” explains the band “Although not all of these issues face us individually on a daily basis, we wanted to be a voice for the voiceless and stand up for what we believe. Our songs have always been about generating a connection or emotive response from those that listen, these songs intend to still be true to that but not just focus on our personal issues or struggles with mental health like we have focused on before”.
