Super Furry Animals
Super Furry Animals

I’m going to be honest with you here. The first thing I did this afternoon was check my haircut and waistline in the mirror because for one minute there I thought I had transported back to the 1990’s.

First Radiohead release a new album, then both the Stone Roses and Manic Street Preachers release singles, then news breaks that Jarvis Cocker was to premier new material on 6Music (where else?) and finally we get a new Super Furry Animals single. I’m this close to donning an unsuitable hat for a man of my age and buying a four-pack of Hooch.

So what of the SFA single? Titled ‘Bing Bong’ and sung in their native Welsh tongue the single is a delicious slice of SFA gonzo-pop. Refusing to play it safe the always interesting band have come firing back into the world with a single that is catchy, disorientating, summery “cosmic disco” (to use the bands own words). It is a much welcome return from the band that are still criminally underrated. SFAOK!!

Now where’s my baggy jeans?
