Scottish Album of the Year winner RM Hubbert premieres the first track to be taken from his forthcoming collaborative album.

Revisiting the collaborative format of the record that won him Scottish Album of the Year, RM Hubbert’s forthcoming Telling the Trees sees the tattooed troubadour dueting with the likes of Eleanor Friedberger and pianist Rachel Grimes. Where his previous record was up close and personal however, Telling the Trees sees Hubbert writing at arm’s length.

The first track to be taken from the record, is the wonderfully understated I Can Hold You Back, featuring Kathryn Williams. Hubbert’s skeletal, flamenco-infused guitar line is back-boned only occasionally by sporadic percussion, more often than not relying on the timbre of Williams’ voice to provide additional texture.
