‘What If James had been novelists or Poets, then this is how their 3rd album release Gold Mother Might have turned out. Each book has been put in order of how they appear on the original album tracklisting’.. says artist Nick Cope as he releases his new collection of book spine prints in honour of some of his own favourite Manchester and Liverpool artists and bands.
Covering a wide range of both of the cities most influential groups from the 80’s/90’s the collection features book spines created around – New Order, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Ian Brown , Joy Division, The Farm, Liam Gallagher, The La’s, Shack, The Real People, James, Pulp, Cast, Echo and the Bunnymen & Northside. All signed and numbered.
Nick Cope –
I decided to do them as a sort of homage to all my favourite bands and albums that really had a impact me as a youth . I wanted to do something unique and not what you see all the time. I have a large collection of books and was sitting staring a one day and that’s where i got the idea from. I have done a collection of 20, all are available from my online etsy shop and each print comes with a signed and numbered certificate, they are limited to 100 of each design.
below are just a few examples from the collection –
