Rotterdam’s Lewsberg are one of the more interesting bands to come out of a city currently enjoying something of an alternative musical renaissance. And they have a new single out, ‘Non-fiction Writer’; a follow-up on their EP, 2016’s ‘The Downer.’
Lewsberg are exponents of a measured, arty-but-inquisitive sound that is slightly at odds with the brazen racket made by the likes of their city peers, such as Rats on Rafts, Iguana Death Cult, The Sweet Release of Death and Venus Tropicaux. There is, nevertheless a dry metallic klank inherent in their music that is very, very appealing. And a suggestion that one day they will unbutton themselves and wig out with some abandon. Those who dig ‘The Gift’ by the Velvet Underground or that very early Modern Lovers sound will surely be drawn to this. We’re very happy to be the first to share it.
If you’re lucky enough to be in the Netherlands, Belgium or Germany there’s a short tour, too. Dates for the diary, thus.
