Kraftwerk have just announced 8 hometown gigs; the dates are below;

12 JAN 2013 – 2 RADIO-AKTIVITÄT – 3D KONZERT
13 JAN 2013 – 3 TRANS EUROPA EXPRESS – 3D KONZERT
16 JAN 2013 – 4 DIE MENSCH MASCHINE – 3D KONZERT

19 JAN 2013 – 7 THE MIX – 3D KONZERT
20 JAN 2013 – 8 TOUR DE FRANCE – 3D KONZERT

The band, as with their recent Museum of Modern Art, New York gigs will perform their entire recorded output, an album per night, plus a few extra’s – what’s more the gigs are being described as ‘3D Concerts’ though at this point there is no further information

Somewhat frustratingly the ticket link on the Kraftwerk site is only in German so its difficult to work out how to get hold of tickets, though it seems that buyers will have to register their details to purchase online in the form of e-tickets.

Phil Newall is 47, from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.

  1. I don’t get the ’20 years of absence’ reference. You mention yourself the Museum of modern art gigs, and didn’t they do Manchester velodrome a couple of years ago?

  2. The 20yrs – that is how long it is since they performed in their hometown; people have always been perplexed that they will play across the globe but seemingly avoided Düsseldorf.
