Welcome to the Killing Joke PledgeMusic page. 2011 brings us the opportunity to let you know that in January the band will be releasing a new live album, our first since 2009’s ”ËœThe Gathering’, recorded at the Royal Festival Hall in London in April.

2010/2011 have been 2 of the most successful years for Killing Joke yet with the release of ”ËœAbsolute Dissent’, their most critically well received album to date. In the UK alone it won Album of The Year at ”ËœThe Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards’ and the lifetime achievement recognition at the Classic Rock awards (Presented to the band by long term fan Jimmy Page). Live shows also saw a dramatic upswing seeing the band play incredible sets at Sonisphere, The Hammersmith Apollo and of course ”ËœThe Royal Festival Hall’ appearance that is being released here. Geordie Walker KJ Guitarist and founder member had a vision to record the show and produce the results himself to give the fan base what he describes as ”Ëœthe definitive KJ Live album’. Geordie, long term collaborator ”ËœClive Goddard’ and KJ Keys player Reza Udin disappeared into the wilds of Henley Upon Thames and the wonderful Doghouse Studios and created this amazing piece of work ”“ completely driven by Geordie himself.

Over the last 30 years, fan support has been incredible and we’re honoured by your continued devotion. We’re always looking to reward KJ fans with new ways to be part of what we do, and that’s exactly what we’ve got planned.

We’re releasing the album exclusively here. It’s available in both standard and deluxe CD formats, and on 2 x vinyl each of which will come with a DVD/CD-Rom of the on stage image projections. But we’ve also put together a list of exclusive items, some of which have never previously been available. We’re giving you the chance to have your copy of the album signed, to get a limited edition screenprint or an album t-shirt, or a Warwick guitar customised by Geordie. The choice is yours. But be aware ”“ some of these items are limited, and when they’re gone ”“ they’re gone.

No matter what you choose to pledge on, you’ll receive the standard album audio as a digital download as well as access to the pledgers only updates section of this site where the band will be posting further exclusive content.

Every item will also help raise vital funds for KJ’s chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation, who do vital work pioneering research, and provide essential care & support for those affected by heart disease.

Now is the time to get involved.

Thank you… Killing Joke’

The band have also released a short video to promote the forthcoming 2012 tour

Phil Newall is 47, from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.
