Killing Joke have today announced the forthcoming release of ‘The Singles Collection’ – a huge 33CD box-set released via Spinefarm / Universal in conjunction with Pledge Music.

The album is set for release on Monday 15 April 2013. As the title suggests, the album is a document of the bands entire single releases from the start of the band right up to the present date.

The band announced the release on their own website and also confirmed live dates in March 2013 and a new studio album.

Jaz remarked on the release “Considering it’s supposed to be the end of the world in a short time, it gives me great pleasure to announce a new singles album with some real rarities on it, shortly followed by a new studio recording. The book ‘Letters From Cythera’ is coming out, and yes, gigs are starting in March. Have a great 2012 and fuck the Mayans! After all, their calendar didn’t predict their own demise…” – Jaz Coleman

The album is a very special release, available to pre-order at Pledge Music and will be pressed in limited quantities and judging by the content of the set its something the band have taken pride in preparing – that said it would need to be to justify the basic price…a cool £216 with other packages on offer up to £269.

The super-deluxe limited edition package includes:

A hand-numbered hinge lid ‘cigar box’ made from 1500mcn black lined rigid board finished with matt print retrospective artwork;
33CD career spanning singles plus select B-Sides in full colour card wallets featuring original artwork;
A rarities disc including previously unreleased studio tracks;
A 32 page perfect bound book including rare photos, archive notes, band commentary;
A poster designed and hand signed by long time Killing Joke artist, Mike Coles, printed on 250gsm silk art;
An aluminium screw top branded cigar tube containing original wrappers of cigars smoked by Jaz Coleman and Paul Raven during the recording of ‘Hosannas From The Basements Of Hell’.

The box-set is available for pre-order for a limited period, only via PledgeMusic, and with the closing date for orders (to allow for manufacture) being Monday 4th February 2013.

Phil Newall is 47, from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.

  1. Or not. The Pledge listing is somewhat unclear:
    “- a 33 career spanning CD singles plus select B-Sides in full colour card wallets featuring original artwork;”
    I retract my previous comment until this is clarified.
