We are shocked and saddened by the death of  the great Jon Brookes the Charlatans drummer.

Not only a great drummer but also a great bloke…we will shed a tear for him today and play the old records and celebrate his life and of the band.

I met him loads of times and like the rest of the band he was a massive music fan, top bloke and always very helpful for young bands and always in touch with the fans –  a rarity in modern music. He was also a fucking great drummer and a towering presence in the band.

He had battled cancer and a brain tumour for some time but the sickness finally took him.
