Ian Prowse is a talented Liverpool songwriter who is very much part of that city’s musical fabric.
He has spent the past few years writing great songs as frontman with ‘Amsterdam’ and once of ‘Pele’.and now solo have won him cult following and must be close to a big breakthrough with his stirring and melodic song delivered with his impassioned charisma. He is out in tour in March – check his facebook page above for details…
I usually bump into him at Stranglers gigs and he is a big fan of the Meninblack but his own music is perhaps closer to the rest of the bands in his top 10 favourite albums…
1. Automatic For The People- REM
Still my favourite album of all time, it’s just devastating and yet bizarrely uplifting. I don’t know what ‘Find The River’ means but I’m eternally moved by it.
2. Tunnel Of Love- Bruce Springsteen
Another album of pain this time by my spirit guide and hero. He’s said himself it’s been his best set of songs so far. The one time he turned
the poetry on himself.
3. Fisherman’s Blues- The Waterboys
My songwriting only came into focus when the celtic soul entered my being, which happened with this album and opened up an entire world I knew nothing about but touched me deeper than any other.
4.Seize The Day- Damien Dempsey
I thought I’d heard all the great Irish music but Damo is the greatest of them all. He is of another world.
5. All Mod Cons-The Jam
A very young me saw The Jam on the opening night of the AMC tour in 1978. Nothing would ever be
the same ever again, and it wasn’t.
