Ian Curtis’ kichen table back for sale on ebay…

In an example of the rubbish world of the internet and collector mania the kitchen table that apparently used to belong to Ian Curtis is up for sale once again.

The table, which was fora sale a few months ago and was rumoured to have been bought by a Canadian collector is still available because the seller claims that ‘the Canadian high bidder’ from the last auction was a ‘time waster’ and the sale didn’t go through.

The opening bid for the table is set at £100 on ebay. Perhaps don’t bother. Former family members and band members are reportedly not happy at the situation.

Apparently the initial sellers mother in law previously ran a Bed & Breakfast across the road from Curtis’ address, following his death she bought the property and some of the contents from Deborah Curtis; subsequently the table was inherited by the sellers wife. There is a suggestion that the table was to be returned to Curtis daughter, however this didn’t happen and in 2005 the item was listed on the ebay auction site eventually selling for £100. Roll forward to 2013 and the table has reappeared, this time going for in excess of £8000.
