youtube clip of Steve Albini recording Hugh Cornwell new album

This is an interesting one.

Former Strangler Hugh Cornwell is to record his new album with Steve Albini.

Albini- who made his name with Big Black and then with Shellac, creating powerful bass driven, scratching guitar soundscapes that sound oddly reminiscent of the Strangles during their ‘Black And White’ phase, has become one of the most in-demand studio engineers in the world recording Nirvana, Manic Street Preachers, Page and Plant, the Stooges, the Pixies and hundreds of others (including my own band, the Membranes- which was one of the first things he recorded).

Albini records using his collection of antique mics, is a lover of analogue sound and has his own custom built studio to enhance his brilliant recording skills.
