The second edition of High and Lonesome featuring two new venues and a plethora of new talent alongside some incredible names promises a lot.

This weekend sees the second instalment of High & Lonesome festival. Following on from last year’s successful event they’ve moved to two incredible new venues. Both Left Bank Church and the Brudenell Social Club are exceptional and perfectly complement their phenomenal line up. Having built upon last year’s top-notch line up, this year they’ve completely surpassed themselves.

Boasting a number of brilliant artists from the brand new to the well established, with so much talent there will undoubtedly be some heartbreaking clashes. Yet one artist who immediately shone out to us is the impressive Harry Mundy, with his debut recorded in Nashville he has that authentic country sound that is starting to slowly gather pace in the UK.

There are also the likes of the incredible Simeon Walker, who hales from Leeds with his beautiful neo-classical compositions that are so delicate. These exquisite tracks are sure to provide a wonderfully captivating opening to the festival. Simeon’s instrumentals are sure to stand out, against the background of incredible singer-songwriters on offer.

With the likes of Lewis & Leigh, John Joseph Brill, Tom Williams and the phenomenal RM Hubbert High & Lonesome has all your sombre needs covered. To say this is an impressive line up wouldn’t do the festival justice; they’ve assembled one of the finest groups of artists that we’ve seen in a very long time. Whilst many of the acts are still making their names, High & Lonesome are equipped with the big guns too.

Julia Holter arrives in Leeds on the back of critical acclaim for her latest ethereal masterpiece Have You In My Wilderness, her stunning voice is sure to melt many hearts at High & Lonesome. As will the enigmatic Josh T Pearson, back with a much more streamlined look yet no promise of a follow up to his extraordinary solo debut.

To say we’re excited to see what Josh T Pearson does is a huge understatement. However, the prospect of this incredible line up has us falling over ourselves with excitement, High & Lonesome have truly outdone themselves and we can’t wait for the weekend!
