HH FURY LIVE LPHenri Herbert & the Fury: Raze Hell -a  taster track from forthcoming debut album -recorded Live at the Gypsy Hotel – out 10 November 2017.

Henri Herbert is impatient.  He can’t wait for his album to come out…  he wants everyone to hear it. NOW!

He sent out advance copies to a handful of trusted people… Whaddayathink?

I told him…

The first time you listen to it – it is like a bomb dropping – and (the memory of) every other music you’ve been listening to in recent weeks is obliterated, erased and forgotten – because THIS is the best thing you’ve EVER heard.  (Yeah, it’s piano-bass-drums-vocal, it’s boogie-woogie rock’n’roll that follows a tradition ….but it doesn’t matter if  it’s not your-style or your-usual-taste because) it is the most real, action-packed, energetic, vibrant, sexy, intoxicating music you’ll hear. It’s virtuoso playing with sheer manic attitude and pace. Henri hammers those keys. The rhythm section kick hard. The sound leaps out of the speakers … this is a ‘live’ album which makes you feel alive! It is a classic live recording up there with ‘It’s Alive’. It’s a sound from the past hurtling into the present so fast it ends up in the future!

When you read quotes like Jon Aizlewoods in  the Evening Standard:  “Like Jools Holland possessed by Jerry Lee Lewis and The Devil Himself” you think it’s over the top, but in reality it’s an under-statement.

On Facebook recently the rock legend BP Fallon described Henri Herbert as “One of the Greatest” and I know what he means.  HH is the Cassius Clay of Rock’n’Roll Piano.

Here is the new single / taster track, which has been described thus; ‘Raze Hell, sounds like an atomic blues from outer space as Herbert testifys over a stomping blues piano’  … followed by some promo info.

Following on from his critically acclaimed “Wired” and “You Say” EPs, Henri Herbert returns with a new combo and his debut LP “HENRI HERBERT AND THE FURY – LIVE AT GYPSY HOTEL” – Released on 10 November 2017 on his own HH Records label, and as the title suggests, recorded Live “London’s infamous Gypsy Hotel”.

It has been mixed by Jim Jones (with whom H played piano in the Revue) and Alex McGowan. With zero overdubs, this album captures the live power of a Henri Herbert show. Backed by The Fury, his ace new rhythm section of Jez Southgate on bass and Aidan Sinclair on drums.

This year Herbert has completed a further USA tour, being invited back to Marshall TX a record third time to perform at The Birthplace of Boogie Woogie, and was invited to perform on Jerry Lee Lewis’ piano in Memphis

Henri Herbert and The Fury have a full UK and Europe tour this autumn and they will officially release the album with a show at The Old Blue Last in London on November 8th 2017.

And here, as a bonus feature is a classic piece of archive footage of one of Henri’s heroes Live in 1972.

As I said at the start; Henri Herbert is impatient.  He can’t wait for his album to come out…  and neither can I.  It’s what we need in 2017.  An authentic rock’n’roll album which blows away everything in it’s path, like a hurricane, like an explosion, (but in a good way!) like the birth of a new era in the cyclical history of rock’n’roll, where sweat, commitment and talent are more important that technology and market research.

Nine more weeks and it’ll be time to Raze Hell!

  1. The Old Blue Last: I was there with wife and granddaughter . . . georgous show. We still love rock’n roll. Congratulation, Jiji
