As we hinted at in the review of Shaun Ryder’s excellent gig a couple of weeks ago in Manchester, the Happy Mondays are rumoured to have reformed the whole original line up.

There will be a tour and the whole thing will get filmed for a documentary.

It’s great news and good that Shaun and his brother Paul are working together again. There was something magical about the original line up, and you can never get better than a band that has grown up together and learned to play together with all its own internal logic and way of playing that eventually created the famous Mondays groove.

More details soon…

  1. Yawn! getting quite tired of this reform business music should be about being progressive and looking forward? I feel really sorry for some of new bands as there are new deals on table for them as the record industry is on its arse and only doing bankable business hence the reform situation. The Stone Roses had their day and spunked it up the wall, a massive deal with Geffen and they could not even deliver that vital 3rd album. And as for the Mondays they helped to take Factory to Bankruptcy and blow everything that was tied to Factory and took a lot of bands down the pan. Shaun Ryder was a selfish abuser and thats about the mark of it. Why should he get a second opportunity he’s had his time? I know I will get a lot of shit from this post, but to many ass lickers in the business forget how it really was. The Mondays on a off night could be the second worse band that you had ever seen, the frist was Black Grape!

    • What are you on about, The Stone Roses were the most forward thinking band of their generation. they were 20 years before their time. The new music that they will bring out will be no different and will inspire a whole host of new bands, mark my words its coming!

  2. why are these bunch of talentless cnuts who are just a pile of drug addicts being given money to ‘reform’? They had ONE good record, and that was a single. Just fuck off the lot of them. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

  3. and also not so great for those of us who had tickets to see Shaun Ryder in Leicester on Wednesday…just had the email tonight saying it’s cancelled. No coincidence that the Monday’s are rumoured to be in talks this week sorting their big payday out. Obviously didn’t need the Leicester gig anymore. Thanks a lot. Hope they don’t get the roses support slots.
