XPYLON collects new tracks and collaborations from Exotic Pylon artists to raise funds for mental health charity MIND.
August 6th sees the release of XPYLON, a fantastic compilation of out-there and under the radar tunes from artists previously associated with the wonderful Exotic Pylon label.
Run by the mercurial Jonny Mugwump with occasional assistance from Paul Snowdown, Exotic Pylon was a portal into an alternative universe of mind-blowing sonics, free from any concerns of fashion of hipness.
Exotic Pylon is no more, having shuffled off into record label Valhalla. But XPYLON reunites many of the artists who recorded for the label for one more hurrah.
It’s all new music, including fabulous spoken word melancholy from Cindy Talk, saturated eeriness from electro-archivists Howlround, wonderful fractured folk from Sophie Cooper, cool digital bobbins from Kemper Norton and enigmatic sonic manipulations from Somerset’s Farmer Glitch.
Pretty good stuff, I think you’ll agree. Even better, all funds go to support the brilliant mental health charity MIND. It’s estimated that one in four of us are affected by mental health issues every year, and MIND provides all sorts of advice and support, as well campaigning to help improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding around mental health.
XPYLON is released digitally on August 6. Check out the taster track below, then head over to Bandcamp to pre-order it.
Meanwhile, you can find out more about MIND here.
