Compilation or best of albums are considered a ‘cheat’ in these type of lists, but I’m choosing this because it was my bible for a couple of years as a teenage dropout. ‘Black Angel Death Song’ – beat that for a title. ‘Heroin’ the danger! Venus In Furs, ‘taste the whip, in love not given lightly’. 17 minutes of Sister Ray, imagine. Anti- establishment sentiment oozing out of every groove of four sides of vinyl. Just all you needed to be an existential, on the edge, psychedelic-punk in 1980’s Smethwick.
