Google To Release Five Part Youtube Documentary On The Clash

Suddenly there is more Clash stuff around than ever.

The box sets, the shop, the talk and now a five part youtube documentary on the band.

Called Audio Ammunition, the doc is an hour long and has lots of unseen footage of the late Joe Strummer and new interviews with the surviving members talking about the writing and recording of five of the band’s classic albums.

With lots of leftover footage from Westway to the World and other pieces this loks like a fascinating and in depth examination of the band.

There will also be modern bands covering Clash songs- an odd combination of Google commissioned some modern bands to perform Clash songs for the project, with Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, Surfer Blood, Kurt Vile and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor all choosing songs from London Calling to cover the songs in their own styles.
