Stream new double AA side release from Guy Garvey tipped desert rocker’s Goan Dogs.

Regular readers may remember we featured Goan Dogs in our “New Artist of the Day” strand just over a year ago (irregular readers who don’t go here.) They’ve now released their first new material for a little while, a double AA sided single, which is not only brilliant but which you can check out below. Guy Garvey’s already a fan and given a chance we think you could be too!

A full review of the two brilliant tracks on this single will be forthcoming ere long, but we couldn’t wait to share the music from this “intricately crafted masterpiece, with contagious rhythms, exotic harmonies and cinematic grooves” till then so we suggest you tip play on this below already!

Since forming in 2010 Goan Dogs have been making fans far outside their home town of Bristol. Their stage show is a sight to behold and has been compared to the likes of Arcade Fire, Calexico or Dry The River. When we saw them playing songs from Edward Scissorhands during a fundraiser at Bristol Old Vic they virtually stole the show with an endearing and accomplished performance showing off composite musicianship alongside oodles of charm. Playing their own music they inevitably ramp up all those qualities.

Having already picked up airplay on BBC 6 Music (Guy Garvey has been quoted as saying “I absolutely love it… Bristol’s finest!” about them) and support slots with some big name artists the future looks bright for Goan Dogs. If you fancy something a bit different these guys could be for you.

The band have one live show lined up at the moment with, no doubt, many more round the corner. Keep up to date with their plans by checking out their website regularly: goandogs.com or by liking their Facebook or following them on Twitter: @GOANDOGS.

More music by the band can be found on their Bandcamp.

Guy is a former full time member of the Louder Than War editorial team, who's since moved on to pastures new. Music's been a large part of his life since he first stumbled across Peel on his tranny as a fifteen year old. His whole approach to music was learnt from Peel in fact, which includes having as inclusive a taste in music as possible. Guy devotes most of his time looking for new music & although he's been known to say "the only good music is new music" he pretty much accepts this is bollocks. Favourite band The Minutemen.
