Jet Black missed tonight’s Stranglers gig in Oxford because he was sent to hospital. The gig went ahead with the band’s drum tech Ian Barnard taking over drum duties.
The 74 year old indestructible drum legend, founder of the classic band was well enough to apparently ‘swear at his colleagues’ and will hopefully pick up the rest of the tour.
The band are currently on a high, their current album, ‘Giants’ is one of their best ever and has been critically acclaimed and entered the UK top 50 and the tour so far has been a big success. We look forward to seeing Jet back on the road with the band for the rest of the dates.
Lets hope he recovers. Swearing seem like a good sign.
Get well soon Jet.
Jet Black – a giant amongst men! Get well soon Jet.
70 fucking 4???
I hope he is fully recovered for Friday’s gig in Brighton . I’m looking forward to it .
he wasnt, but it was a brilliant gig wasnt it, was better than rammstein at the o2 3 wks ago, these blokes are fantastic, loved em at hastings pier 1978 ish, not so hot in eastbourne 1989/90 ish, back to form 2012, where is the recognition they deserve
lets hope he is fine and gets back on the drum stool, legend JET BLACK…
I loved Baz’s quip last night when singing Peaches – “I can think of a lot worse places to be – like down in the street, or down in the sewer… or in a hospital in Oxford”! Excellent gig even without Jet – GWS!
The legend that is Jet Black! I’ll never forget his words when I handed him a pile of singles to sign back in 1991: “Jesus Christ! I’ve never seen half of these before!”
Get well soon, big guy!
Best wishes Jet.
Remember the hospital in “SWEDEN” ?
Get well soon Big Guy ;O)
