Gary Glitter has been arrested by police looking into the Jimmy Saveile allegations.

The Metropolitan Police said that Glitter was arrested at 7:15 this morning on suspicion of sexual offences, and had been taken into custody at a London police station.
He has been arrested as part of Operation Yewtree, the major police investigation into allegations that former BBC star Jimmy Savile sexually abused up to 300 children and vulnerable people.
A Metropolitan Police statement said: “Officers working on Operation Yewtree have today, 28 October, arrested a man in his 60s in connection with the investigation.
“The man, from London, was arrested at approximately 7.15am on suspicion of sexual offences, and has been taken into custody at a London police station.
“The individual falls under the strand of the investigation we have termed ‘Savile and others’. Not prepared to discuss further.”
Glitter, 68, real name Paul Gadd who now resides in Oxfordshire, had a successful music career during the 1980s but was jailed for child sex offences in Vietnam in 2006. Glitter is currently a Registered Sex Offender (Sexual Offences Act 2003)
